To maintain your smile, follow these recommendations from our trusted orthodontists:
- Bring your retainers to your check-ups; these visits are part of your orthodontic care.
- Some mild gum swelling and tooth sensitivity are normal after treatment.
- Schedule a professional cleaning with your family dentist about two weeks after your braces are removed.
- Have your family dentist monitor your wisdom teeth during regular visits.
- Wear your retainers as directed; 24 hours a day for the first three to six months, then nightly unless advised otherwise.
- Keep your retainers clean with a retainer cleaner like Retainer Brite or by brushing them gently with a mixture of baking soda and water.
- Always store your retainers in their case when not in use; pets love to chew them, and napkins can easily be thrown away!
